Our Programs

While our programs differ hospital to hospital, there are four programs that are core to mission:

  • Comfort Bags – Individual gift bags provided to patients and their families in the ICU.  Each bag contains items that are useful for stays in the hospital.  Our bags include a combination of the following:  entertainment items (notebook, pen, puzzle book, deck of playing cards, play doh, coloring book, crayons), travel sized toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, lotion, shampoo, shower gel) and food (granola bar, chips, cookies, popcorn, easy mac, mints).
  • Brady Blankets – Homemade fleece blankets provided to patients in the ICU.  Our blankets come wrapped in a ribbon with a note from Brady’s Smile.  The blankets are very soft to touch and brighten up a child’s room.  The child keeps the blanket forever.
  • Music in the ICU (“MICU”) – Our goal is to have music available to each bedside in the ICU.  We provide CD players (both regular CD players and cribside CD players) and CDs that have been specifically recommended by music therapists.
  • Meals by Matt & Annie – We provide monthly homemade meals to parents, families and caregivers of newborns and children in the ICU.  Dinner is either catered by a generous local restaurant or homemade by one of Brady’s Smile’s wonderful volunteers.  The meal allows parents to meet other parents as well as get a fully nutritious and complete meal.

We also work with hospitals on specialized projects (e.g., creation of a children's library and pediatric asthma center) and provide individualized programs to critically ill and disabled children outside of the hospital environment.
